To make this work everywhere we will need to be able to build binary wheels for most of the wanted architectures, then upload these to pip. So for the goal of this particular build, to produce a Cairo framework to use with native Apple apps, we disable the X windows backend. It is actually possible to build a Cairo library with both X windows and Quartz backends enabled, but actually using the library then has some nuances.
